EVA Interviews Hoyt Davidson, Managing Partner of Near Earth LLC

Leaving the Lunar Editions behind, we return to focus on near Earth orbit at EVA Interviews: The Business of the new Space Age™. My next guest is Hoyt Davidson, Founder and Managing Partner of Near Earth LLC. This niche inestment bank specializes in the important area of providing investment banking and advisory services to the commercial Space, satellite, telecom and aerospace industries.

Hoyt talks to us about the evolution of his interest in Space and the creation of the first investment bank with a Space focus Near Earth LLC . We discuss the dichotomies within the satellite space industry and how it is often perceived not as a Space industry but as a media, telecom or geospatial industry. The impact of the recent NASA refocus and budget announcements, his experiences with the entrepreneurial space sector and the exciting new era before us are all part of this stimulating in-depth interview. Hoyt Davidson’s perceptions of investor interest in the entrepreneurial Space sector and attractive public/private partnership models are also covered.

EVA Interviews Team “Selenokhod” in the Google Lunar X Prize Competition

The next Google Lunar X Prize team to participate in the Lunar Editions of EVA Interviews: The Business of the New Space Age™ is Selenokhod is one of the newest entrants in the competition and the only team from Russia.

While the team is still in its infancy, Nikolay Dzis-Voynarovskiy CEO of Selenokhod talks about some of his challenges and their role as one of the few private Russian space enterprises.

Please stay tuned for more GLXP Team interviews! And check out the earlier editions if you haven’t yet read them! To start this series, EVA went directly to the source and interviewed the Moon about its expectations for future lunar commercial activities. Coming back down to Earth, the second interview focused on the organization whose actions and incentives are most helping to make business on the Moon a reality and talked to William Pomerantz Senior Director of Space Prizes for the X PRIZE Foundation about the exciting Google Lunar X Prize competition. Next was the first of the team interviews with Michael Joyce of Next Giant Leap.

EVA Interviews Michael Joyce of Team “Next Giant Leap”

The Google Lunar X Prize Team interviews have started! First to reply is Michael Joyce of Next Giant Leap. This is the third in a series of Lunar Editions of EVA Interviews: The Business of the New Space Age™. Starting with her interview with the Moon, EVA went to the source to discuss its expectations for future lunar commercial activities. Thinking about how this could become a reality, EVA then focused on the organization whose efforts are actively working towards this goal, by encouraging and financially facilitating competition, and interviewed Will Pomerantz about the Google Lunar X Prize.

Mike Joyce of Next Giant Leap talks to EVA about putting together his impressive team, some of the challenges they face, and their unique rover concept. He asks for feedback to ensure they (and the commercial space industry) fullly engage the public (and no doubt investors and customers) in their endeavor.

Stay tuned! An invitation has been issued to all the teams participating in this competition to discuss their teams, efforts and their progress. I’ll announce the new interviews as they occur! It is an exciting competition and may be the impetus necessary to take commercial activities beyond Earth orbit!
